# ASAS Sensor Node: Maintenance

ASAS Sensor Nodes are designed for minimal maintenance. [cite: 143] However, occasional checks can ensure continued optimal performance:

  • Physical Inspection: Periodically inspect the node for any physical damage to the enclosure, antenna, or solar panel.
  • Cleaning Solar Panel: If equipped with a solar panel, gently clean its surface with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, or bird droppings that might obstruct sunlight.
  • Sensor Check (Visual): For nodes with external sensors (e.g., soil probes, weather instruments), ensure they are free from debris or blockages.
  • Connectivity Check: Monitor the ASAS Platform to ensure the node remains connected and is regularly transmitting data. If a node stops reporting, investigate potential power issues, LoRaWAN connectivity, or physical damage.
  • Battery Health: While designed for longevity, battery performance can degrade over many years. If a solar-powered node consistently fails to maintain charge, the battery may eventually require replacement (contact ASAS support for guidance).
